The customer in this case has smaller hands and struggles to reach the left thumb keys over the low C key: Paul replaced the Key heads with Short Reach touch pieces from key castings supplied from Moosman: he then silver soldered the keywork, reshaped and adapted it to fit the customers hands.

The L3 ring was also adapted to a covered hole key with an adjuster screw necessary for accurate key regulation.

Once this work had been completed, Paul had to ensure that the key work worked with the full sized bassoon and that it fitted the customers hands accurately.
